Shadow Valley Horse Rescue Inc. Is a non-profit horse rescue. We strive to protect and save any and all equines that need our assistance. We have been rescuing horses since 2007, and have just recently incorporated and become the official not for profit, up until this summer we were running out of our own pockets to save and protect these horses. The entire goal of my rescue has always been to save horses that need the help and advocate for the rights of these magnificent creatures.
This rescue formed entirely to be able to help more horses find their people, and get awareness out about some of the issues we have today. Horses have a right to a good life, just like every other animal out there. And here we do not only save horses but have taken in poultry, cattle, goats and ever other kind of livestock in danger that we were able.
"No hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle. ~Winston Churchill"
I welcome any and all questions about the rescue. Yes we run a for profit ranch along side the rescue. My personal horses and breeding program have been going on longer than i have been saving horses. And was the main inspiration for me to being to do this all in the first place. I saw so many horses out there when i was at shows, or events that needed someone to speak up for them, and at the time i simply could not. So i decided along with several other factors to set up a rescue to allow myself to save horses and to really make a difference.

He knows when you're comfortable
He knows when you're confident
And he always knows when you have carrots.

History
Shadow Valley Horse Rescue was formed officially in 2012 as a non-profit with the state of Colorado. We have been rescuing horses since 2007. All rescues are kept on one facility in Jefferson, CO. Efforts to network with other rescues and ranches in the area to house rescues has also been successful. The owner/founder Abbey Hilty has been working with horses her whole life and the whole family has been involved in this one woman effort to save the horses of the world. There are two people on the board, Abbey Hilty as well as Nancy Hilty.
A current effort in seek of new facilities is under way to be able to expand and provide care for the more critically ill equines. SVHR takes in all livestock and small animals. Rescuing dogs, cats, rabbits, poultry and a variety of other livestock over the years, this is not just a horse effort although focused on the every growing need for well established and competent horse rescues.
The rescue was formed through the efforts and inspiration in the life of Abbey's first childhood horse Shadow, his story can be seen on the Shadows Story page.
